Palestinian-American Adolescent Liberated After 270 Days in Israeli Custody

An American-Palestinian teenager who spent nine months in Israel's custody absent formal charges gained freedom.
Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 at the time of his arrest last February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing from his Florida home for allegedly throwing stones at Jewish settlers, claims he consistently denied.
The US state department expressed satisfaction with the teenager's freedom.
Currently aged sixteen, required hospitalization upon gaining freedom, relatives told the media.
Family described him as pale, underweight, and is suffering from conditions acquired while detained.
In a statement, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".
Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "living a horrific and endless nightmare" during the entire detention period.
"At this moment, we are focused on getting Mohammed prompt healthcare he needs after experiencing harsh conditions and inhumane conditions over several months."
US officials said it would continue to provide consular support to Mohammed's family.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers submitted a formal letter to US authorities and the White House, urging greater action to release him.
The father, a father-of-four operating an ice cream shop based in Tampa, had earlier stated his child admitted guilt about rock throwing because the soldiers beat him.
The father hadn't visited or communicated with his son following the detention, receiving updates exclusively what had happened to him in detention through court documents.
He stayed absent formal charges within Ofer penitentiary on the West Bank.
The facility also contains grown detainees, some of whom have been convicted of serious terrorism offences including killings.
There are around 350 Palestinian child security detainees detained within Israeli facilities, according to the Israeli Prison Service.
