Dominant Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Top Player Awards.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive year.
The 27-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.
A Year of Dominance
Throughout the year, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the world number one, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.
In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Historic Achievements
Sabalenka concluded the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a historic £11m in tournament winnings.
She garnered almost 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a greater prominence".
